I was just wondering where your favourite swimming waterholes are around
Brisbane.
How close? There are lots in the Gold and Sunshine Coast hinterland.
Everyone's favourite close to Brisbane is probably Cedar Creek.

Yes i am aware of Cedar Creek. It is good but where are the better ones. I
know of another two in the Gold Coast hinterland area... Blue Pool at
Purlingbrook Falls and Lower Portals at Mt Barney.

What about around Samford? anythere?

Lake Manchester near Mt Crosby has not been mentioned yet.
There is a swimming hole near the picnic area close to the
dam wall.

You've been to Diana's Bath? you can swim about 50 m in a straight line
there (about 10-15 m wide), so it's not quite as big as the Lower
Portals I guess. Mt Archer campsite (Mt Mee SPF) has a nice developed
waterhole. Northbrook Gorge - longest swimthrough is about 15-20 m,
but there would be more if there's been rain. S Pine River
driving up to Mt Glorious (more sit-in pools I think?).

Further afield:
The Brisbane River (the bend at Lowood is pretty popular, or at the
bridges near Fernvale); any of the lakes on N. Straddie (esp the
Keyhole Lakes); below the Baroon Pocket Dam wall in
Obi Obi gorge is pretty good too; at lots of the falls in the Conondales
eg on Bouloumba Creek; Natural Arch; Upper Tallebudgera and Currumbin
Creeks; Gwongorool pool below Binna Burra.

Thanks for the info.

How do i get to Northbrook Gorge? Is it signposted , the walk marked etc?
Another good one, Kondalilla Falls.

Cheers

In the Far South :
Beenleigh to Tamborine
[lower] Cedar Creek Road not the top in the national park, but instead nearer to Chardon Bridge Road
[Lower] Cedar creek park is about 1.5kays up Cdr Crk Rd from Beaudesert-Beenleigh Road [at B-B Road there's a big sign that tells you this is NOT Cedar creek Falls] : Rocky creek , flat , easy , deep in shade of trees , Open grass and undeveloped otherwise , take your Dog.
There is also an 'obvious' park downstream on Beadesert-Beenliehg road : Small, Traffic , gravel , picnic table.
Chardon Bridge Road Cedar Creek is a nice paddle but can get fast or muddy , steep banks , gravel bottom , toilets accross road , BIG park , undeveloped just mowed]
Also see Stanmore Ford at Wolffdene ; there's a Ford and big pool but you mostly can't climb out the banks , muddy and unpleasant rocks/concrete.
Some spots on Veivers Road nearby - unmarked ; steep climb down bank : Rocky Rough creek pretty.

South of Canungra : Sharp Park on the Beechmont road , grassy park , picnic tables toilet , open creek banks with some gravel.

Continue up Beechmont road about 4 kays South-East from Sharp Park to a BARELY MArked "Killarney Glen" ; once the road starts to climb just look at every single little side-track on the left. It is about a kilometre walk downhill to spectacular water-carved gorge, rock-pools paddling , and also deep water , , waterfall , Rainforest , some tables old rotting, drop-toilets , Steep walk back out.
Generally open weekends and school-holidays : it is Army land : the sign tells if it is open.

Numinbah Valley in from Gold Coast : there are Two parks - one obvious that is not pretty right beside the road , BUT the Upper park [keep heading towards NSW] is in deep forest : lots of picnic tables , toilet , pretty spectacular boulder creek.
Also in Numinbah is the Natural Bridge National Park - well worth seeing - but No Swimming.

Rathdowney : about 15kays up Running creek Road towards Lions Road NSW : big park , free camp , toilet , little creek, rocky.
