G'day,

I read somewhere a while ago there was a group of people who went to
Splendour Rock for Anzac Day. Does anyone know about this and if there is
anyone doing it this year ?

Some friends and I are contemplating the Katoomba to Kanangra Walls walk and
this would be a great stopover.

The Confederation of Bushwalking Clubs NSW sometimes has an Anzac Day
ceremony at the Bushwalkers War Memorial at Splendour Rock. Most Bushwalking
Clubs would know about this. Contact the one nearest to you and ask. You can
find the addresses of most clubs at www.bushwalking.org.au .

Hi,as was posted a year ago to the same question; there IS a Dawn
Service conducted at Splendour Rock every year by members of the Nepean
Bushwalking Club. Until his untimely death, the service was conducted
by the late Jack Cummings for the best part of 30 years (Bushwalker
magazine late 2002). Last year thanks to the efforts by Margaret Covi
president of the confederation, we had a turnout in excess of 50 people
Anzac Day falling on a long weekend, and in spite of problems with our
"sound system" the service was conducted with much diginity by
Bushwalker Bill Sanday who has filled in since Jack's death, and all
being well Bill will taking us through the service from dawn onwards.
Young or old we look forward to seeing you.
P.S while on the topic, has anybody been through the Wild Dogs lately,
and is able to give a report regarding water at mobbs soak?

We filled up on March 18th (friday) and there was plenty of (running)
water. It was still a bit yellow and funny tasting but it did the job
and I haven't experienced any side effects. There was also water in
the small creeks running off the wild dogs. However, it had rained
significantly for the few days before and the water there tends to
return to brown sludge rather quickly so I'm not sure that I'd rely on
it.
